Here is a heads up. The new building codes are coming into effect for 2020. While the changes to the California Building Codes may be slight, the changes to California’s Title 24 Codes are huge. The entirety of the new Title 24 code editions spans six volumes of tedious reading.
The biggest changes to new codes this time is Residential. All new homes are required to be net zero energy. In it’s most general sense-net zero energy means an assumed usage my owners and low annual energy bills. The lower energy bills must be due to a combination of solar and excellent design/construction in terms of energy efficiency.
Commercial Buildings will follow in the next code cycle (2023) with similar sweeping changes.
